About us

Kimberley Agricultural Investment is a private Australian company owned by Chinese property developer Shanghai Zhongfu. It was selected in 2012 as the preferred proponent to develop 13,400 hectares of land in the Ord River irrigation area. Its long-term goal is to build Northern Australia's most exciting agricultural development, subject to obtaining at least 30,000ha of farm land.

Milestone nears for KAI’s flagship farm

The McGowan Government continues to support efforts to build a sustainable local cotton industry in the north with a group of local investors led by the Ord River District Co-operative (ORDCO), Kimberley Agricultural Investment Pty Ltd and the MG Corporation.

A recent study indicated a new cotton gin could create more than 1000 local jobs in its first 10 years, generating $1.19 billion in cotton lint exports and additional value-add benefits from retained cotton seed as feed for the cattle industry.

The Chinese-owned company farming large parcels of the Ord hopes to finish developing its flagship and biggest farm this year, nearly seven years after being awarded the rights.
