about Corn

Corn is grown as a dry season crop in Kununurra utilising dual purpose varieties. Currently the majority of corn produced is exported via Wyndham port, 100km by road Northwest of Kununurra to for processing into grits and cornflour. There is also a growing domestic market in the Northern pastoral industry for the grain that KAI produces to feed cattle. KAI has underpinned the growth of the Corn industry in the ORIA over the last 5 years. Corn is well suited to a cropping rotation with cotton, having a good relationship agronomically and providing different periods of peak work requirement.
